Warner Bros. and I seem to have our minds in the same place. See, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1" has been out for a whopping five days, which means it's clearly the right time to start looking forward to "Deathly Hallows - Part 2." Fortunately, WB has appeased my desire to gaze eight months into the future by releasing the very first photo from "Part 2."
It's kind of cheating, since we already saw this moment in the full "Deathly Hallows" trailer back in June, but considering we didn't let speculation get the best of us and guess what was going on in this scene, now seems like the best time to start! We'll dive into the dissection after the jump.
First let's lay the groundwork for what we already know. The final battle scene at Hogwarts is said to last more than 30 minutes, but that means that's on top of all the other scenes at Hogwarts we have to get through (sneaking through from the Hog's Head, Snape's memories, walking into the woods), so we're probably looking at at least half of our film being set at the wizarding school. That being said, this moment between Voldemort and Harry is clearly set at Hogwarts (just look at those arches!) so we can base all the other clues in the photo around that. However, it is a little strange that there is no one else in the shot with him, which would be the case if it were the battle.
And the biggest clue we have in the picture is all that rope (or cloth or something like that) wrapped around Harry. After refreshing my knowledge of the end of "Deathly Hallows," Harry isn't tied up after his confrontation with Voldemort in the woods, yet I have a gut feeling they're going to have him all tied up in the movie. This confrontation between the two of them would probably happen after Harry reveals himself as being awake. That makes sense, because that's going to be the part of the battle sequence that would be drawn out (whereas it's only a couple of pages long in the book) and having Harry and Voldemort come face to face would only heighten the drama.
